Description:

This acquisition of 140 acres is under one ownership within the proposed Teal Slough NRCA. It offers a unique opportunity to protect a rare and ancient coastal cedar forest, old-growth Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock forest, and a high quality salt marsh community. The property is confirmed habitat for Marbled Murrelets and Northern Spotted Owl. Other rare wildlife using the site includes Dunn's and Van Dyke's Salamanders, Vaux's Swift and Pileated Woodpecker. The property is also used by a diversity of other species, including elk. The site is visible to Highway 101 travellers and is easily accessible for outdoor environmental education purposes.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
