Description:

The project addresses the acquisition of the 218.25 acre McLeary tract, contiguous with Sun Lakes/Dry Falls State Park, as identified in the 1998 Commission approved Master Plan and the Classification and Acquisition Plan. The tract will be acquired to preserve the landscape character of the nationally significant Grand Coulee Landscape, associated with the Ice Age Floods. In addition, acquisition of this parcel will provide additional shoreline access to Park Lake, acreage for compatible recreation developments, and feasible trail access routes to high plateaus overlooking the park and region.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
