Description:

The goal of this project is to start the acquisition of 234 acres of property adjacent to Sun Lakes State Park. The scope of this project, and State Parks priority, is to acquire approximately 50 acres which includes the rock outcrops at the lakes edge and the basalt bluff along the northern corner. This acquisition will increase State ownership and control of lake shoreline by approximately 5000 lineal feet and will provide potential for additional recreational developments and lake access. Acquiring the entire ownership will increase opportunities to relocate public roadway away from lake edge, thus allowing public use free from vehicular traffic.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
