Skansie Brothers Park Acquisition
Description:
This one-acre property acquisition lies immediately south of the City of Gig Harbor's Jerisich Park in Pierce County. The site will provide local residents and regional visitors with a unique opportunity - access to the only city urban park with waterfront/boating access and uplands recreation space. Combined, Jerisich and Skansie Brothers Parks will offer transient moorage, sewage pumpout services, restrooms, picnic and public gathering spaces, as well as saltwater access for small watercraft and fishing activities. The Skansie Brothers Park adds 102 feet of waterfront and 121 feet of multipurpose, open grass uplands and tidelands to the Jerisich Park area which has no significant upland space. Planned improvements will include walkways, park benches, picnic tables, and a covered open structure for community gatherings, events, and celebrations. The project includes the garage which is identified as a joint City and local Rotary Centennial project for improvement as a covered common area with power and water.
