County: King
Legislative District: 34th
WWRP Grant: $50,000

Project Type: Acquisition
Date Funded: 2004

Description:

This project will acquire wetland parcels that are a critical part of the headwaters of Puget Creek, which drains into the Duwamish River near Kellogg Island. The parcels support a riparian forest system that serves to maintain low-water (summer) flow in the creek, providing excellent habitat for many species of wildlife, birds and amphibians, as well as in the Puget Park and other public open spaces in the area. Purchase would provide a significant expansion of existing public ownership in an important open space system.
