Pleasant Glade Park
Description:
This 31+acre acquisition in Thurston County addresses a high priority need identified by the city for both neighborhood and community park space in a service zone devoid of any public parks. In addition, the acquisition addresses two of the city's highest priorities: waterfront access and stream corridor/habitat preservation. Over 2,150 feet of a salmon bearing stream (Woodland Creek) will be added to sections of a corridor already in public ownership. Site amenities include: a house, three small structures, Woodland Creek, and a small pond that has a limited bass fishery. The structures will be used for recreational and maintenance support facilities for the site. Future facilities at the site include: walking trails, day camp, playground, picnic shelters, multiple play structures, restrooms, sport courts, and ropes course. Environmental education programs will occur on site.
