Pearrygin Lake - Hill/Golf Course Acquisition
Description:
Pearrygin Lake State Park is a 962-acre camping park with over 16,000 linear feet of Pearrygin Lake shoreline located approximately four miles north of Winthrop in the Upper Methow Valley in north central Washington. The park provides a wide range of outdoor recreational pursuits, while preserving valued natural and cultural resources. The recreational facilities include campsites, group camps, tent sites, primitive camp sites, picnic sites, boat launches, boat handling floats, and an ADA accessible fishing pier. The activities include camping, hiking, picnicking, cross country skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, swimming, fishing and boating. The park is open April - October and receives well over 300,000 visitors per year. The Hill/Golf Course properties consists of 342.48 acres, lies south of the park, and has outstanding views of Pearrygin Lake. A portion of the property is presently a 9-hole golf course with the remainer being undeveloped. The current property owners’ plan is to construct the undeveloped property as part of an 18-hole golf course, which would be visible by park users. This property acquisition is important in connecting the existing State Park property with significant blocks of public lands through the Bear Creek Corridor in an effort to provide year round recreational, cultural and natural resource opportunities and to preserve the view shed.
