Description:

This project involves development of a 50-acre community park in the heavily developed residential areas of east Vancouver. The service area includes 8 neighborhoods, with a total population of over 30,000. This project will provide the only community park facilities in the entire service area. New improvements will include skatepark, basketball court, children's play equipment, benches, picnic tables and 2 shelters, over 2 miles of trail, landscaping, and support facilities. The neighborhoods include both multi- and single-family housing and growth rates have been so high that temporary building moratoriums have had to be called to let road development keep pace with growth.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
