Description:

The area surrounding the confluence of the Mashel and Nisqually rivers has been included in the Nisqually River Management Plan as a suitable site for a state park. This project is a continuation of the phased acquisition of the north side of the Mashel River. The acquisition will allow for development of a major destination park on the Mashel Prairie, providing camping, picnicking, group camp, developed river access sites, and interpretive center. Also provided is canyon preservation and protection of wildlife habitat in the area.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
