A needs assessment survey was conducted and the results indicated an overwhelming support of renovation the existing swimming pool. Approximately 8,000-10,000 people live in the primary and secondary service areas and are targeted in the planning of the pool renovation. A long list of community members have participated in preliminary fund raising projects to secure funding to keep the project going. The incidence of drowning in Pacific County exceeds that of the State of WA by almost 3 to 1. The project will make swim instruction and water safety available to all ages, which will contribute to reduction of drowning incidents. The City of Raymond has high, low and moderate income population and without financial assistance this much needed facility will not be a reality.
