Description:

This project will assist Napavine in the acquisition and development of the area's first community park. The parcel is almost 30 acres, located in the heart of town, and provides exciting opportunities for both immediate needs and future growth. Phase 1 includes acquisition and initial development and permitting of the site. This project will provide the City and surrounding community with much needed ball fields, cited as the number one recreational priority in the City's new park plan. As part of this project, the City will build 3 ball fields, 2 basketball/tennis courts, parking, and a restroom/storage facility. Road and utility infrastructure will be installed. Construction will begin in summer 2001 and be completed within a year. A community center will be built adjacent to this property and will compliment park development, but is not part of this project. Future park development will include picnic areas, planting and landscaping, a system of paths around the wetland and interpretive/information center kiosk.

I-5 South, Take 70, take right at end of ramp, take a left onto Rush Road, follow Rush Road into City of Napavine. Take right on W. Washington St., Take left onto W. Birch Ave (Hwy 603). Property located on right side next to water reservoir.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
