This 160-acre parcel is the primary impasse between the Ragged Ridge area and the main body of the park. It is an inholding within Mount Spokane State Park and includes most of Quartz Mountain, a unique mineral deposit that has in the past been a commercial quarry. Quartz Mountain has long been recognized as an essential land addition to the park. The acquisition of this area would provide an outstanding viewpoint in all directions. The inclusion of this viewpoint in the total trails system would provide interest and a challenge to many users. Several connecting trails could also be located on this parcel. This parcel was recommended and approved to be included within the boundaries of Mount Spokane State Park in the 1978 Mount Spokane Boundary Review.
