Description:

Acquisition of 1,090 acres of winter range for migrating mule deer. This is the largest area of contiguous, relatively undisturbed riparian and deciduous forest, meadows, and wetlands in the Chewack River drainage. It provides habitat for a large wildlife population and sustains more biological diversity than any other stream in the Methow River watershed.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
