Martha Lake Airport Community Park
Description:
This project would acquire a 26 acre piece of property in southwestern Snohomish County in the Martha Lake community. The subject property is located within unincorporated Snohomish County, in an area that lies within the designated urban growth area between the cities of Mill Creek and Everett. The owner, who recently died, developed the property as a private community airfield in the early 1950s. Heirs to the estate have notified airport occupants that they intend to actively market the property. The 26-acre site is surrounded by dense, suburban residential development. As an airfield, the property is level land cleared - making it desirable for active community recreational facilities. The surrounding community has expressed support for the site's acquisition by Parks, in order to preserve it for much needed open play space.
