Description:

Seattle's proposal is to develop a premier public skateboard park at its popular Lower Woodland Park, just southeast of Green Lake Park, which will be built in two phases. Our application focuses on Phase one, which will develop the basic infrastructure for the full project, make necessary improvements to adjacent features, and will complete 14,000 square feet of the overall 23,000 square foot planned skate park. Skate park elements will include bowl type and street skating features and a viewing area with benches for spectators. The design accommodates skaters of various skill levels. Design elements within the park will be spaced so participants can maneuver and recover without interfering with other users. Also elements requiring different skill levels will be situated so that users of different levels do not interfere with one another. The skate area will be fenced in with limited access to assure safety to the user and passer-by. There will also be signage to inform users of the rules of conduct, hours, recommendations for helmets and padding, and the prohibition of other uses such as in-line skating and bikes.
