Description:

The City of Seattle is proposing to acquire a 1/3-acre of undeveloped open space and develop it into a neighborhood park. The property, currently privately owned, is located in the Northwest District of Seattle and has been coveted by the Green Lake Community as a priority acquisition for over 10 years. The acquisition of this property is also identified in the Green Lake Neighborhood Plan and the City's Comprehensive Plan Update. Its acquisition will provide a much needed neighborhood park in an area of Seattle that is woefully deficient in open space and park resources. Located in census tract 35, there is no small neighborhood park within the next 3/4 miles that residents can easily walk to. Moreover, separated by Aurora Avenue to the east, residents do not have easy access to regional facilities such as Green Lake Park or Woodland Park Zoo, both of which are heavily used. Our proposal to acquire the Linden Ave site and develop it into a new small neighborhood park will directly address this need.
