Date Funded: 2007

Description:

This project will acquire 67.5 acres of high-quality shoreline, riparian, and wetlands habitat on 315-acre Lacamas Lake in southeast Clark County. The project site includes 6,100 lineal feet of shoreline, and virtually the entire site is designated by Clark County as priority riparian habitat and wetlands. The project site borders 350-acre Lacamas Lake Regional Park, and will become part of an 800-acre system of habitat and parkland that borders a close grouping of three lakes--Lacamas, Round, and Fallen Leaf Lakes. The project site supports a variety of wildlife including deer, beaver, osprey, bald eagles, great blue heron, wood duck, Canada geese, and neotropical migrant birds. The primary goal of this project is to protect riparian habitat values. However, the property does provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing--especially by canoe and kayak--and there is a short strip of uplands at the south end of the project site that provides opportunities for picnicking and fishing.
