Inholdings & Adjacent Properties - 2002
Description:
Funding this project would allow State Parks to acquire key land parcels that arise during the biennium where the opportunity will be lost unless action is taken quickly. The funds apply to land acquisitions immediately adjacent to state parks or inholdings within state parks. In both '95- 97 and the '97- 99 biennia State Parks obtained $500,000, in 99-01 inholdings received $200,000. The funds made possible six acquisitions totalling $390,860. To date 15 additional parcels have been authorized by the Commission for acquisition, with expenditures totaling $982,000 if all are purchased. The acquisitions obtained key lands that likely would have not been available to purchase via regular routes. The purchases avoided potentially incompatible uses adjacent to park lands, allowed for park expansion and campground development, obtained key viewshed protection and allowed for a park to provide water access.
In existing state parks throughout the state.
