Inholdings & Adjacent Properties - 2000

WWRP Applicant: State Parks
RCO Project Number: 98-1060
Legislative District: 10th,  15th,  19th,  20th,  24th,  26th,  39th
WWRP Category: State Parks
WWRP Grant: $500,000
Project Type: Acquisition
Acres Protected: 200
Date Funded: 1999

Description:

Funding this project would allow State Parks to acquire key land parcels that arise during the biennium where the opportunity will be lost unless action is taken quickly. The funds apply to land acquisitions immediately adjacent to state parks or inholdings within state parks. In both '95- 97 and the '97- 99 biennia State Parks obtained $500,000. The funds made possible six acquisitions in the '95- 97 period. To date in this biennium, six parcels have been authorized by the Commission for acquisition, with expenditures totaling $231,000 if all are purchased. Additional choices will be taken to the Commission later this biennium. The proposed '97 - 99 site total is approximately 91 acres. The acquisitions obtained key lands that likely would have not been available to purchase via regular routes. They avoided potentially incompatible uses adjacent to park lands, allowed for park expansion, obtained key viewshed protection and allowed for a park to provide water access.
