Description:

This project involves acquisition and phase 1 development of a 120-acre community park and sports complex located at the NE corner of Vancouver's urban growth boundary. The primary focus of this project is youth sports fields. Over 30,000 people live in the Hockinson Meadows Service Area, which includes portions of the Hockinson and Evergreen School Districts. The county's Sports Fields Master Plan identifies an immediate need for 23 youth baseball, 10 soccer, and 8 softball fields. Moreover, commercial development will soon eliminate 6 youth baseball fields within the current inventory at Wineberg Park. This project will provide a complex of multi-purpose athletic fields that will accommodate 15 youth baseball/softball, 10 youth soccer, and 3 adult soccer fields. The adult soccer fields can also be used to provide an additional 9 youth soccer fields. Other improvements will focus on families with pre-school and school-age children, who may be attending sports events or who otherwise wish to use this park. Facilities will include picnic tables, a shelter, play equipment, and 10,000 lineal feet of trails.
