Hansen Park - Amenities & Development 04
Description:
This project will construct park improvements in a 25-acre grassed open community neighborhood park that is being developed during 2004. The improvements include a restroom, playground equipment, picnic shelter, walkways, 1/2 mile of trail, park furniture, trees, related utilities and parking. There is only one other 1/4-acre park within this neighborhood of 8,000 plus residents. The community has been working on securing a park site within this neighborhood for several years. The acquisition and development of park land in this neighborhood was listed as the top City need for park needs. Due to housing development and orchards there had been difficulty in acquiring the site. A large planned unit development was started in 2003 and the City was able to secure the park site and initial development through the developer. The developer agreement required 12 acres of land to be donated. The developer agreed to donated an additional 13-acres and to grade the site, install the irrigation system and hydroseed the site with grass. Without the planned improvements, the park site will not offer full recreational opportunities.
