Description:
Acquisition of land to provide permanent protection of two Garry [Oregon White] Oak savanna habitats, a wetland, and buffer areas, which support a variety of vegetation and wildlife species. The site is used by migrating waterfowl. Future development may include viewing platforms, parking areas, and trails. This is the last remaining wetland of this size in western Pierce County and it is historically significant because of Flett Creek and Flett Dairy.This proposal includes fencing the wetland habitat area owned by the College. The description of the 7.1 acres to be acquired is as follows: Parcel A: 1 acre +/ , Tax Parcel No. 400134 008 0 Tract A, Creekside Oaks Planned Development District, Phase I, according to plat recorded under Auditor's No. 9601190288, in Pierce County, Washington. Parcel B: 6.1 acres +/ , Tax Parcel Nos. 400144 110 0, 400144 112 0. Tracts A & C, Creekside Oaks Planned Development District, Phase II, according to plat recorded under Auditor's No. 9606210371, in Pierce County, Washington, as amended by Affidavit of Correction of plat recorded under Auditor's No. 9707100029.
From I 5 [north], take exit 127. Go west to South Tacoma Way and turn north. Turn west on Steilacoom Blvd. Clover Park Technical College is about one mile from this intersection. Property is across the street from the college.
