Description:

This project involves phase 1 development of an 88-acre community park in the rapidly developing residential areas of north Vancouver. The service area includes four large neighborhood associations, with a total population of over 20,000. This project will provide the only community park facilities in the entire service area. New improvements will include basketball court, bocce court, children's play equipment, benches, picnic tables, 2 shelters, restroom, over 3 miles of trail, landscaping, wetland and habitat restoration, viewing platforms, parking, and support facilities. The neighborhoods include both multi- and single-family housing and growth rates have been so high that temporary building moratorium have been called to let road and utility development keep pace with growth.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
