Enumclaw Trail Development Phase 1
Description:
The development of the Enumclaw Trail Project is the beginning of an effort to eventually link the City of Enumclaw with the King County Regional Trail System and the Foothills Trail in Pierce County. This project, the Enumclaw Trails Project, will develop the first section of trail from State Highway 410 near Veterans Memorial Park south to the Enumclaw King County boundary. The proposed trail would consist of a 10' wide asphalt path approximately one mile in length. The trail corridor includes an open section that provides great views of Mt. Rainier and another section that is wooded providing a more secluded / park like type of experience. This connection southward will someday provide access to the White River, and ultimately the Foothills Trail in Pierce County. King County Parks has purchased ten acres along the White River at the location where the trail will cross the river. The Trail Project will satisfy a tremendous need in the Enumclaw area. The City conducted a community survey during the development of the Park Plan in 1998 and trail development was indicated as the top desire/need by the community members completing the survey. The City has no developed trails within the community at this time. This shortfall of trail inventory in Enumclaw was determined during the development of the Enumclaw Parks and Recreation Parks Plan, adopted in 1998, and the Enumclaw Trails Master Plan, which was adopted in 2000. Our vision, is to someday see Enumclaw and Buckley connected with this trail corridor.
From Sumner, drive East on Highway 410 through Bonney Lake and Buckley. After crossing the White River, the second right hand turn will be the intersection of Semanski Street and Higway 410. The southern end of the trail begins at the Semanski Street Road crossing. The trail corridor is on the right side [east] of Hwy 410 as you drive east on Hwy. 410. The trail crosses Warner Avenue and follows to old Railroad Right of Way until it runs into Higway 410. The trail crosses Hwy. 410 at a controlled intersection at Second Street. The total length of trail development in this project is approximately one mile.
