Description:

Acquisition of the Elk River Estuary to provide for the long-term protection of four quality examples of salt marsh elements listed in the Natural Heritage Plan, and for a nesting bald eagle. Project is in southern Grays Harbor County. DNR later received a $500,000 National Coastal Wetland Conservation Program grant to assist with this purchase.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
