Edgemont Park
Description:
Redevelopment of the city's only active park, Edgemont Park. In 1923 the owners of this property donated it to three park districts who in turn donated it to Pierce County. The property came with the restriction that the property could only be used for park purposes. Upon incorporation, the City of Edgewood received this five acre park from Pierce County. The park has a ball field that is used for active recreation, a picnic shelter with restrooms and a storage closet, two swing sets and a gravel parking lot. The intent of the application is to receive matching funds to redevelop these elements of the park. This five acre park is the only active park property in the city that is 9 square miles and has a population of 10,534. Improvements include renovation of the restrooms, installation of new play equipment, paving the parking area, accessibility improvements and other park amenities.
