Description:

The purpose of this project is to acquire a trail corridor with minimum 50 foot ROW 13 miles in length, a part of a soon to be abandoned rail corridor offering a unique one-time only opportunity to add to the county's heavily used regional trail system located in the densely populated eastside cities. This segment will be part of one of the single longest abandoned rail corridor sections in the country, 40 miles total. This project begins at SR520 in Bellevue and continues north through Kirkland, the unincorporated Sammamish River Valley and ends at the county line in Woodinville. It links residential, industrial, business and employment centers. The project corridor will connect to the Sammamish River, Burke Gilman and SR 520 regional trails and offer users an extensive variety of experiences and scenic resources, including mountains, Lake Washinton, urban skylines, farmlands and other open spaces. It will link local and regional parks, schools and local trails. Trail character ranges from urban residential and commercial areas to rural farmland and wooded natural areas.

Location:
King County
