Description:

This project will acquire 52 acres of shoreline, riparian, and floodplain habitat on the East Fork Lewis River 3 miles southeast of the town of La Center. The project includes about 1,800 lineal feet of shoreline on the East Fork Lewis and 1,515 lineal feet on Dean Creek, a year-round tributary that flows through the property. The entire site lies within the 100-year floodplain. The East Fork Lewis is Clark County's largest free-flowing stream. It supports ESA-listed runs of steelhead and coho, chinook, and chum salmon. The project site is centrally located within a 2,100-acre habitat and greenway system that covers 12 miles on the lower East Fork Lewis. In addition to ESA-listed salmonids, the project site provides habitat for deer, river otter, beaver, eagles, hawks, and neotropical migrant birds.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
