Description:

The project proposed in this application is varied and intended to offer outdoor recreation opportunities for all age groups. This Phase III project includes a skateboard park, basketball courts, playground area, grassy picnic area with barbecues, and swim beach improvements. In addition to these specific elements, this phase of the project proposes enhancements to lighting, signage and safety. The combination of recreation elements is designed to encourage whole families to come to the park together and have something to enjoy and completes Phase III of the Cusick Comprehensive Park Plan. The previous, Phase I and II park development included a ballpark, a boat launch, parking lot, and public restrooms. The future, Phase IV, will complete additional landscaping, signage, and development of an interpretive program. Partners include the Port of Pend Oreille, PUD, Pend Oreille County, Cusick School District, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Tri-County Economic Development District, USDA Forest Service, and a host of civic organizations, private businesses, and community members.

Location:
From Spokane travel on Hwy 2 North, turn north on Hwy 211 toward Cusick. At the junction of Hwy 211 and 20, turn left (north). Upon entering the Town of Cusick turn right (east) on Monumental Ave. The Park is on the riverside of Monumental and First, behind the library and community center.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
