Description:

This project is located in the northwest portion of Pierce County, across the Narrows Bridge into the Gig Harbor/Peninsula area. Pierce County in partnership with the City of Gig Harbor would like to receive a grant to extend the existing 16' wide asphalt non -motorized trail through the City of Gig Harbor and portions of the County.. The existing and proposed trail will be constructed on the Tacoma Public Utilities Right of Way where we have a renewable 20 year lease. The proposed four mile extension will connect to the existing and proposed new Gig Harbor History Museum, Rosedale farm, an early 1900's with house, barn, fruit orchards, including all the old farm implements of that era. Further on the trail will connect directly to the many shops, restaurants, bicycle shop and the Harbor itself. This phase will end at the Gig Harbor North Shopping Center. A major shopping center planned for the 14,000 new residents proposed in that area. The trail with all its amenities will give the community and its visitors the opportunity to shop, recreate and use the trail as an alternate means of transportation to and from work, to shop, and to go to other places of interest.

Location:
take freeway 16 across the narrows bridge. turn off at pioneer, right onto kimball dr. to the park and ride. trail starts between park and ride and strohs feed store.
