Description:

Colville's municipal swimming pool was constructed in 1954 and has been in constant use since that time. The facility has been maintained well over the years but recently is starting to show signs of old age. The solar system is in need of major repair or replacement, the filters are original with the pool, and most of the plumbing is the original steel and cast iron pipe. The tank itself is in need of some minor structural reinforcement. Additionally, the bathhouse is out of compliance with ADA standards and its roof needs to be replaced. Though the pool can be safely operated in its present condition, we have been operating on borrowed time for a number of years. A recent study conducted by an engineer and a swimming pool consultant has outlined a renovation and retrofit project that will substantially extend the life of the facility. The facility is structurally sound with only a few problems that can be effectively remedied at a much lower cost than that of replacement. The pool provides summer recreation opportunities for City and County residents of all ages. It is the only competition pool within a 45 mile radius. The local swim team holds its practices and home meets here. The community places a high value on this facility and this project will allow the City to maintain a level of service that has been in place for decades.
