This project develops the final link of a paved trailway along the Columbia River. Plans are to construct approximately 3,050 linear feet of trail and install related amenities such as bike racks, benches, signs, parking, landscaping, and a drinking fountain. Richland's Riverfront Trailway is one of the community's most important recreation resources. When completed, it will connect the city's three largest and most heavily used parks via a seven mile uninterrupted barrier free trail. This trail runs from the Yakima Delta near the interstate, north along the river to Hanford. The US Department of Energy has plans to extend the trail further north to the newly declared Hanford Reach National Monument.
