Description:

Development of a community picnic and water-play recreation feature in the east end of Columbia Park, a 380-acre regional waterfront park. To include remodel of existing '60 vintage restroom to code; construction of a group picnic shelter, fenced 4-gang horseshoe court, trail segment to connect to 4+ mile river front trail, zero-depth aquatic spray playground and related amenities. The new features are in a 15-acre high family use area, adjacent to a family fishing pond, 1/3 acre play structure, and improved parking. With the other features this area offers and the amount of informal group use experienced, the improvements will provide for the accessible group picnic activities and safe water play demand. Over the last 3 years over 1m in volunteer efforts have taken place. The same groups are committed to the proposed improvements and have committed funds and time to the project.

On SR-240 enter Columbia Park at the Edison Street Interchange, proceed east on the park road, Columbia Park Trail to the large parking lot west of the Family Fishing Pond.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
