The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) provided $150,000 in matching funds for the improvement of Custer Field to
correct poor turf quality, insufficient drainage and a lack of lighting. Improvements at the field will increase the length of the season that games can be played and provide leagues and Skagit Valley College teams with a better play surface. The field improvement will also contribute to community tourism ontournament weekends and will save Skagit parks maintenance cost.
Directions:
From Seattle head North on Interstate 5. After approximately 60 miles, exit at #227 (College Way), bear right heading east on College Way. At the fourth light you will see Skagit Valley College on your left. Continue approximately one-quarter mile on College Way, turn to the left and park in the large parking lot at the edge of the athletic fields. Custer Field is in the southeast corner of the single 4-plex of ball fields.
