Why I Support the Coalition: Tom Dwyer, Ducks Unlimited

Tom Dwyer, Duck UnlimitedTom Dwyer is the Conservation Director for the Pacific Northwest Regional Office of Ducks Unlimited, a nationwide conservation organization whose mission is to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and their associated habitats for North American waterfowl. Ducks Unlimited has over 37,000 members in the Pacific Northwest and has worked on the restoration of 74,000 acres of wetlands in our region.

“The breadth of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program in Washington is very important to Ducks Unlimited’s mission,” says Tom. “Many critical habitat, natural area and riparian projects funded by WWRP each year contribute to improving the health of wetlands in Washington.”

Like the Coalition, Tom says Ducks Unlimited’s work “touches many communities both large and small by restoring the wetland landscape.  We work with local governments, land trusts, federal and state landowners and any other entity that shares our vision of restoring and managing wetlands and associated habitats for the benefit of wildlife and people.”

Tom supports the WWRP and the Coalition “because of the tremendous amount of wildlife habitat that is protected and restored each year with WWRP funds. WWRP is very important to the quality of life in Washington. This sheer magnitude of the program is the envy of all the other states in the northwest.”
