The Coalition is co-presentiong this panel focused on fossil fuel dependence exacts an increasing toll on the economy, national security, and our environmental well-being. An alternative energy future is rich in promise and entrepreneurial opportunity, and Washington now ranks fourth in the country in clean-tech investment. With scores of newly-formed companies, who are some of the promising players? Will a weakening economy slow or stall their headway — or do green jobs offer a path to economic revitalization? Can any of the emerging solutions mature quickly enough to meet our needs? Cama Beach: New State Park Open on Camano Island
On June 21st over 1200 people joined Governor Gregoire and the Washington State Parks Commision in dedicating Washington's first new state park in eleven years. Over $9 million in WWRP grants contributed to Cama Beach State Park, a scenic and historic site on the southwest corner of Camano Island.
DFW Commission Approves WWRP Funds for Wildlife Habitat
The Washington State Fish and Wildlife Commission recently approved
expanding wildlife areas with WWRP grants in Okanogan, Pend Oreille and Skagit counties. The funds will preserve habitat and provide opportunities for wildlife viewing, hunting and fishing along:

The West Branch of the Little Spokane River, between Fan and Horseshoe lakes in southern Pend Oreille County

Beaver Creek between Twisp and Winthrop in Okanogan County
-
The convergence of the north and south forks of the Skagit River, north of Conway.
Survey says Washingtonians find Recreation Areas Crowded and Far from Home
The RCO surveyed Washingtonians about their participation in outdoor recreation and found that activities like walking and biking are the most popular, and people need more safe places to do this close to home.
